Sustainability with Tara Sartoria silk

It has been important for us from day one to practice zero waste in our production.
We save all cut offs and leftover silk fabric from the production of our silk pillowcases, kimonos, tops and pajamas. We then use these leftovers to make our silk masks and silk scrunchies. The result is that we are able to give or offer these products at incredible value for our customers, while honoring the earth, the silk, and the artisans: because no silk is wasted.

Another way we’re working to make an impact is by purchasing silk directly from artisans in the oldest silk villages in Vietnam, where silk has been produced since the 9th century.
This ensures that we source 27 Momme silk of the top quality, which is over 40% more silk than the 19 Momme silk often used for mass-produced silk garments. Our hand-loomed artisan silk is a precious material to us, and it shows in our respect for the artisans, the earth, and this beautiful material etched in history.
