1. I am in between sizes: M and L, should I order size M or L?
We recommend that you do not size up because our clothing is loose-cut, as silk does not stretch. Therefore, if you are in between sizes M and L, we suggest ordering size M.
2. What does it mean that your silk is 27 momme?
Momme is a standard measurement that indicates the weight of silk. The higher the momme, the higher the weight, quality and consequently durability. Our artisan mulberry silk is 27 momme, which is over 40% more silk than the 19 momme silk often used for mass-produced silk garments.
3. Why does your silk not need to be dry cleaned?
Our silk is produced using traditional artisan methods dating back to the 9th century, allowing it to be washed like it has been for thousands of years, without the need for dry cleaning and its harsh chemicals.
4. Is it true I can machine-wash this silk? How?
Yes, our thicker 27 momme artisan handmade silk is durable and machine washable. Place it in a laundry mesh bag to protect it from other items, then wash it on delicate or hand wash cycle using a detergent and softener for delicates. Tara recommends washing silk with shampoo and conditioner to maintain its lustre and softness. Simply add 1 tbsp of shampoo and 1 tbsp conditioner to 1 cup of water, add to your washing machine, and wash on a delicate cycle.
5. I really dislike ironing! Will I end up having to constantly iron these silk garments?
Tara and many of us here at Tara Sartoria share your dislike of ironing, and that's precisely why we love silk! Silk's lightness allows body heat to naturally soften and remove wrinkles over time. So, in reality, all you need is a quick steam, or none at all if it's sleepwear. Additionally, washing silk with shampoo and conditioner can result in fewer wrinkles when drying.
6. What is the deal with French seams?
French seams are a high-end finishing method used in haute couture and luxury garments. It takes about twice as long to make the garment and more fabric because the seams are sewn twice. But, the result is a durable garment with a polished appearance inside and out.
7. Can I wear this daily?

This is seriously such a nice, quality silk tank top! I wear this as often as possible. It's definitely genuine silk, and not flimsy or see-through at all. This is so versatile for my wardrobe - I can dress it up, wear it as a base layer, wear it to the market, or simply to bed. The design and cut is classic, including French seams! The straps are adjustable (and stay where they're adjusted to) and do not get all jumbled up and twisted around like inferior silk tops I've had before. The straps also lay perfectly flat. You can really tell that these are made with love and careful attention. I also really liked how the tank top arrived inside of its own matching drawstring bag! It's the little things like that really add up! To clean this, I usually machine wash it and air dry....and it is still as good as new! Sizes may run a tiny bit larger, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! I'm 5'6", weigh 150lbs. and usually wear a medium or large in these types of tops. I chose a Large, and it seems as if there's just a tiny bit more fabric than Larges in general, but that's totally cool! This left room for me to tailor it specifically to my body (even though it doesn't need it). I love that the silk does not irritate my eczema at all, as well as helps with hot flashes and night sweats due to surgical menopause. This would be a beautiful gift to yourself or anyone that enjoys timeless, versatile, sumptuous garments.

This tank top is definitely cut on the boxy and large side, which I don't mind for sleeping in but may be a consideration if you plan to wear this outside. I ordered Pink but I think I got Vintage Rose instead - the color leans more plummy rose, which does complement medium tan skin tones like mine. I appreciated the handwritten note (see photo 2) and the little drawstring silk bag that came with the top, which I plan to turn into a silk scrunchie as I doubt I will be folding the top in a way that fits the little bag. I wish the adjustment pieces were not plastic as those tend to break often for me, but this is a small gripe and the quality of the silk material is nice and thick. I also like the story behind the product which seems authentic - I also am involved in running a social enterprise that helps underprivileged women through handicraft, so I do identify with this cause in general.
I did not have high hopes for this camisole at all. They are all, let’s face it, pretty much alike. Since I was offered this one at no charge in exchange for an unbiased review, and the rose color looked pretty, I decided to give it a shot. Quelle surprise! This cami is gorgeous! The color is a gleaming, vintage-y rose, very rich looking. It’s made skillfully, with perfectly finished French seams. It fits very well too—a good length and no annoying little gaps under my arms. And the silk! The fabric is a thicker silk than any other lingerie-type item I’ve seen—it’s just luscious. The cami came packaged in a matching silk drawstring bag for a beautiful presentation. This would make a wonderful gift or a treat for yourself. I’m going to order more!
