Made from the finest natural mulberry silk, our pajamas are so comfortable you may never want to take them off! Not that you need to - with details like point collars, cuffs and dark mother of pearl buttons, the shirt looks amazing with jeans outside the house. Plus, these are 100% washable. Just put them inside the wash bag (included), throw them in the washing machine on delicate cycle, and they come out perfect as new.

Momme is the default unit of measure to describe silk. The higher the momme, the thicker the silk is. Most mulberry silk garments on the market are 19 Momme. Our luxury artisan mulberry silk is 27 momme, ie 40% more silk per garment. The result is a luxuriously thick and sumptuous silk that is durable and can be machine-washed.

1. I am in between sizes: M and L, should I order size M or L?
We recommend that you do not size up because our clothing is loose-cut, as silk does not stretch. Therefore, if you are in between sizes M and L, we suggest ordering size M.
2. What does it mean that your silk is 27 momme?
Momme is a standard measurement that indicates the weight of silk. The higher the momme, the higher the weight, quality and consequently durability. Our artisan mulberry silk is 27 momme, which is over 40% more silk than the 19 momme silk often used for mass-produced silk garments.
3. Why does your silk not need to be dry cleaned?
Our silk is produced using traditional artisan methods dating back to the 9th century, allowing it to be washed like it has been for thousands of years, without the need for dry cleaning and its harsh chemicals.
4. Is it true I can machine-wash this silk? How?
Yes, our thicker 27 momme artisan handmade silk is durable and machine washable. Place it in a laundry mesh bag to protect it from other items, then wash it on delicate or hand wash cycle using a detergent and softener for delicates. Tara recommends washing silk with shampoo and conditioner to maintain its lustre and softness. Simply add 1 tbsp of shampoo and 1 tbsp conditioner to 1 cup of water, add to your washing machine, and wash on a delicate cycle.
5. I really dislike ironing! Will I end up having to constantly iron these silk garments?
Tara and many of us here at Tara Sartoria share your dislike of ironing, and that's precisely why we love silk! Silk's lightness allows body heat to naturally soften and remove wrinkles over time. So, in reality, all you need is a quick steam, or none at all if it's sleepwear. Additionally, washing silk with shampoo and conditioner can result in fewer wrinkles when drying.
6. What is the deal with French seams?
French seams are a high-end finishing method used in haute couture and luxury garments. It takes about twice as long to make the garment and more fabric because the seams are sewn twice. But, the result is a durable garment with a polished appearance inside and out.
7. Can I wear this daily?
Yes, our customers report that our silk items are sturdy and durable, making them suitable for daily wear without concerns about tearing.
These are beautifully constructed out of silk so black It's hard to pick out the details. I've had a number of silk shirts, but never full pajamas, and the difference between these and pajamas in similar synthetics is substantial. They just plain feel good. It's hard to beat having nothing on, all other things being equal, but these really seem to do the job. And the fit couldn't be better. The top is constructed like a square cut dress shirt, with three button sleeves, double stitching, conventional collar and plaquet, and could actually be worn that way, with or without a tie; with black dress slacks, one could even pass for a priest, should that course of action prove expedient. The shirt lacks a pocket, but there are hip pockets on the pants. The pants hems are plain, and they feature both elastic and a tie. They also have a real fly with a button (for some, this is a real convenience, for others, a necessity!) The shirt lacks any of those visible features like piping and floppy pockets and cheap buttonholes that scream, "Look everybody, he's in his pajamas!" These come with a nice silk eyeshade in its proprietary bag. They originate with a small family enterprise in Vietnam, and clearly they value making a quality product. If I were shopping for a husband, adult son, or significant whatever, and wanted to give a gift that would both impress and be appreciated, it would be hard to miss with these.
The silk is thick and soft inside and out. The design and attention to detail are fantastic. Dealing with Tara is a real pleasure. This is a fine person and a fine company that actually has a heart. A big heart. Part of her profits go to support the women who manufacture the beautiful silk in the small village where she grew up as a girl. My wife and I have ordered custom silk pajamas from Tara and are blown away by her quality and service. I asked her to make my pajamas inside out (shiny side in) and wow. She and her seamstresses make all her garments with French seams and place the highest priority on quality. Do yourself a favor and just buy anything from her site. It’s all good. We should know - we have ordered about everything we can from Tara. Our sleep quality has improved beyond belief. I got these silk pajamas for my husband as a gift. He loves them! He never had silk pajamas before, and can’t believe how comfortable these are! The other day he had to wear his cotton set because this silk set was in the wash and he told me it felt like a huge downgrade haha. I probably have to get him another set for Christmas.
